Red Cross volunteers honored

The Aroostook Branch of the American Red Cross-Pine Tree Chapter honored its disaster volunteers at a meeting on July 6. Bill Thomas of Woodland and Bob Jordan of Caribou were recognized as the 2011 Volunteers of the Year for their dedicated support to local office needs, emergency response vehicle maintenance and responding at a moment’s notice to more than a dozen fire incidents during the year.

Gretchen Wilson-O’Grady, R.N., Emergency Services director for the chapter, recognized the following volunteers for their years of service:  Penny Kern of Presque Isle, 25 years; Romeo Bouchard of Caribou, 15 years; Bill Thomas and George Knorr of Caribou. 5 years. 

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Kristi and Guy Herron, Doug Hunter, Lynn Bosse, Joy Brakel, and Alan Lafaver all of Caribou; and to Joyce Price and Nancy Nichols of Presque Isle, Ken Urquhart of New Sweden, Judy Winchester of Wallagrass, and John Metz of Fort Kent.
