I am still putting very little seed out for the birds right now. Seems that there is some sort of animal who is getting into the feeders and emptying them every night, with some of the feeders looking slightly lopsided every morning, from the attempts of this animal. Keep some seed in during the day to help the little birds. Have been really enjoying the pool at Vacationland Estates during the hot spell. Friend, John White, is now back to join us there every day and occasionally someone from the condo will be there to join us, too.
The annual Trash and Treasure sale at the Whittier Congregational Church will be held July 30. There will also be a table full of home-baked goodies, plus homemade ice cream on sale and the public is cordially invited to come in and browse around.
Ricker Rumblings

Hello everyone. We are having a break from the high temperatures, on Sunday, as this is written. Sylvia Thompson is doing a great job of watering the flower bed besides the front entrance. The flowers look lovely.
Betty Britton is a patient at Houlton Regional Hospital. Get better, Betty. Kathryn Hall of Bangor was an overnight visitor of her mother, Lois Downing. On the menu of many people are green beans, Swiss chard, new potatoes, peas and cucumbers. Don’t they taste so good!
The parking lot was filled with cars on Tuesday, July 19, as many were here to help Bill Cogswell help him celebrate his 80th birthday (surprise) party. Bill recently arrived from New York to spend time with his sisters. The party was in the community room given by Bill’s sisters, Gerry Dunn, Norma Bates and Lavina Byron. Bill was completely taken by surprise and then Norma had a surprise too when her son came from New York. About 50 family members were there. What a nice party and a song was sung to Bill. I heard it and know it was good!
July is the month of birthdays around here, Cathy Ledger had one a couple of days ago and Lavina Byron attended a party for Audrey Brown. Happy Birthday, everybody.
The Thursday night band concert was cancelled due to the bad weather. Many attended on Friday, a concert in the park.
July is nearly over and the summer is slipping by. Are you enjoying the summer? Please do, it’s later than you think. How about the Red Sox? Many hours of entertainment is given to their fans.
Priscilla Brownlow and Peggy Robinson attended the wedding of Eric Anderson and Deanna Daigle in Ellsworth last weekend. Eric is Priscilla’s grandson.
The Bible verse for today is: “In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream at night. God said, Ask something of me and I will give it to you.” (I Kings: 3:5)
Have a safe and healthy week.
