Freeman Albert, 82, of 70 Nicholas Court, Hamden, formerly of Wallingford, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille Pierce Albert. Mr. Albert was born in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada on February 27, 1929, a son of the late Edmond B. and Laura Bourgoin Albert. He had resided in Wallingford for most of his life, and in Hamden for the past seven years.
Mr. Albert was a conductor for AmTrak for forty years, retiring in 1992, and was also a proud Korean War Veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Lynn (Stanley) Kohrn of Hamden; two sons, Kevin J. (Janice) Albert of Wallingford and Brian M. (Michele) Albert of Killingworth; seven sisters, Leona Valdes of Maple Valley, WA, Arlene Albert of Del Rey Beach, FL, Irene (Ken) Desrosier of Scituate, RI, Pauline Daigle, Rita (Russell) Gendolfe and Nan (Fred) Bassett of Providence, RI, and Ruth Sides of Houlton, ME; two brothers, Ralph (Constance) Albert of Providence and Ruben (Mae) Albert of Bangor, ME; eleven grand-children and three great-grand-children. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marie Elizabeth Albert, and two brothers, Gary and Kenneth Albert.
Mr. Albert’s funeral procession left Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 in St. Stephen Church, Ridge Rd., Hamden. Burial with military honors followed in St. John Cemetery, Wallingford.
