Berry wins Island Falls 5K road race
A Caribou man took top honors in the Island Falls Summer Fest 5K run held on Saturday, August 6.
Shawn Berry completed the course in 16:44, topping Thomas Beckum of Caribou by 26 seconds.
Rounding out the top five are Alfred Hanscom, Leo Kashian and Larry Hodge.
The top female finisher was Marie Beckum of Caribou.
62 runners took part in the 5k. Heather Newman won the two mile walk and Celin MacKinna was first in the kids half mile run.
Right off the heels of the Island Falls Summer Fest 5K Run is the County Open half-marathon on Saturday in Island Falls.
The 13.1-mile course is TAC certified and begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
