Hockey great Ray Borque and the Portland Sea Dogs are teaming up to help biathletes, many who train in northern Maine.
Bourque, who serves as a trustee of the United States Biathlon Foundation, announced the “Ultimate Portland Seadogs Prize Package” charity raffle to benefit the US Biathlon Foundation.
The raffle winner will receive a one-day contract as a first-round pick for the Portland Sea Dogs, behind the scenes tour of Hadlock Field for six people, six box seat tickets for the August 22 game, personalized Sea Dogs jersey and more.
“Since moving to Maine in 2006, the Olympic sport of biathlon has made dramatic progress in terms of athlete performance, as well as organizational development,” Bourque said. “I joined the Foundation board because I have been inspired by the quality of the athletes and want to support them as they strive to get their first Olympic medal at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia. Proceeds from our first raffle will help ensure the team continues to have what it needs to compete – not only this year, but into the future as well.”
