Are you living paycheck to paycheck or trying to dig out of debt? Do you want to get your spending under control and save for a more comfortable future? If so, sign up today for “Financing Your Future: Make the Most of Your Money.”
Starting Aug. 29, Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community (www.womenworkandcommunity.org) will offer this free five-week workshop to help you gain the skills and confidence to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce your debt, find money for savings and set personal financial goals. At the end of the class you will have a plan in place to achieve greater financial stability. The Financing Your Future class will be held from Aug. 29 through Oct. 3 (no class on Sept. 5, Labor Day) on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Reed Commons at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, and a follow-up session is scheduled to provide additional networking and support.
Suzanne Senechal-Jandreau, regional manager for Women, Work, and Community and the trainer for the class, noted, “If you want to get your household onto more secure financial footing, this class will help you build support, encouragement and skills. Regardless of how much money you have or what stage you are in your life, this class helps you find out where your dollars are going, set financial priorities and take charge of managing your own money.”
The Financing Your Future workshop is open to women, men and couples of all ages and incomes. Pre-registration is required by Aug. 24, and there is no fee for the training. Successful completion of this class meets one of the requirements for the Family Development Account (FDA) matched savings account program, which can be used to help you purchase your first home, pursue your own college education, or start or expand your small business.
