The funds were the result of area citizens, participating in the Caribou Cares About Kids Celebration, wanting to ‘pay’ something for the ‘free’ Customer Appreciation Barbecue hotdog lunch offered by the Aroostook Republican. During the annual hotdog barbecue, in less than two hours the AR staff, assisted by Mark Putnam, Fay York and Pam Lynch, served an estimated 500 hotdogs/buns; 432 bags of assorted chips and more than 400 cans/bottles of soda and water; not to mention giving away 300 flying discs.
