Machias Savings earns honors

For the fourth year in a row, Machias Savings Bank was selected as one of the “Best Places to Work in Maine” along with 40 other businesses in its category. The prestigious “Best Places to Work in Maine” program was established in 2006 with the purpose of recognizing employee-focused businesses in Maine.  One crucial step in the application process is a questionnaire which employees complete regarding their employer; the second step is a benefits questionnaire completed by the employer.
Machias Savings Bank has been creating lasting relationships throughout Maine since 1869 and is a community bank with a devoted staff of approximately 200 employees. They have a valued interest and sound commitment to the economic development of the areas they serve.
Currently, Machias Savings Bank consists of thirteen locations in five counties; Washington, Hancock, Aroostook, Penobscot and Knox, with the home office located in Machias and are currently building a fourteenth branch in Brewer, slated to open early 2012.  Edward Hennessey, President of Machias Savings Bank states, “Our consistent rate of growth is not directly related to any one product we offer, but rather the exceptional customer service we strive to provide; our customer service remains our most important focus.”
Machias Savings Bank is committed to being the Employer of Choice in each of their market areas. They do this by providing a robust benefits package, an internal Rewards & Recognition program that empowers employee to employee recognition, and by fostering a vision which compels their employees. The vision of Machias Savings Bank is “to provide the most exceptional banking experience in the state of Maine”.   Machias Savings Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and an Equal Housing Lender.
