Aroostook Times
Local— The Grand Bazaar for the benefit of Donovan’s Cornet Band commences today in the Opera House and continues until Friday evening.
Relocating — J.B. Brewer will commence this week moving the Cary house from its present location to Pleasant Street and work on the new home for the Aroostook Times will commence at once.
Houlton — Miss Hortence White has accepted a position as bookkeeper with the Times Publishing Co. during the absence of Miss Rose Donovan.
75 Years Ago-September 10, 1936

On staff — Miss Virginia Dudley, daughter of Mrs. Mildred J. Dudley, Park Street, recently began her duties in social welfare work at Bridgeton.
Superintendent — Philip H. Woodworth, superintendent of schools in the Newport, Corinna, Dexter and Plymouth district was elected to the same position here at a meeting of the Houlton, Littleton and Hammond school union. Woodworth replaces George J. Cumming.
Priesthood — Ray McCluskey, left Saturday for Lennox, Mass., where he will enter the Shadowbrook Jesuit Novitiate. He is the first Houlton man ever to enter the Holy Orders.

Garrison Hill — Plans are being made to restore the Hancock Barracks site on Garrison Hill. Frank B. Dunn was appointed chairman with Thomas O. Bither and Leland Longstaff, committee members.
HHS students — Roger Lincoln, David Henderson and Harold Henderson will represent the State Future Farmers of America at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Mass. Larry Tompkins, vocational agricultural instructor will accompany the boys.

NEW TEACHERS — Houlton Superintendent George P. Milner announced the roster of new teachers with seven replacements in the system. Either new or transferring within the district are, Julia Jordan, Morris Cassidy, David Smith, Walter Robb, Audrey Henderson and pictured above left, Gary Severson and Lloyd Chase on right.
Ward Cabin — A scale model of a deluxe Ward Cabin will be featured by the Ward Cabin Co. in the Maine Building in the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield. This completely furnished model is the result of many hours of labor by Mrs. Paul Fontaine, manager of Ward Cabin Co., Mr. Fontaine, the architect; Mrs. Paul Davenport, Ernest Vose, Thomas Vose, Dick Gonya and Harry Ruth.

Monticello — Groundwork has started on construction of a 50-foot by 30-foot addition to the Monticello Fire Department.
Soccer — The Houlton High School girls varsity soccer team will be leaving for Nassau in the Bahamas during harvest break. Coach Joe Feeney and 26 team members and chaperones will complete the group. While there, they will play one game and will be the first to have ever played soccer in the Bahamas from a foreign country.
Schoolhouse visitor– The children at ACAP Head Start in Dyer Brook discovered a small black bear in their midst on the playground. Teacher Barbara Libby and parent volunteer Rose Lindsay immediately took the children inside, but the cub tried to follow.
Dyer Brook — New staff at the Southern Aroostook Community School District include, Maribeth Barney, Nancy Williams, David Spencer and Thomas Berry.
