Fall sports banquet held at PIHS

PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle High School has saluted its fall student athletes with an awards banquet held at the high school on Nov. 7.

Certificates, sweatshirts, jackets and special honors were handed out.

JV girls soccer coach Lisa Rossignol presented certificates to freshmen Erin Ackerson, Jessica Baldwin, Hilary Boucher, Macy Desmond, Cameo Madore, Megan McKnight, Megan Seward and Morgan Wilcox; sophomores Danielle Allen, Carly Bell, Logan Caron, Kaleigh Kinney, Jackie Lambert and Hannah Postell; and juniors Kayla Girardin, Alex Lambert and Kali Warner.

Nate Hasty, the JV boys coach, handed out certificates to freshmen Austin Albert, Ben Buckley, Chris Carroll, David Cyr, John Freeman, Keeghan Lowe, Colin McKay, Alex Michaud, Chase Noron, Josephy Patenaude, Andrew Patterson, Alexis Bell (mgr.), Aubrie Gross (mgr.) and Travis Sylvain (mgr.); sophomores Aaron Kofstad and Cody Lyford; and junior Thomas Freeman.

Fall freshman cheering certificates were handed out by coaches Jolene Kinney and Jenna Bradstreet to Rene Browning, Elizabeth Butterfield, Ashley Cote, Brooke Dinatale, Brianna Devoe, Cheyenne Judkins and Lazareth Porquin.

Freshman Mackayla Burbee received a fall cheering certificate. First-year letter recipients were freshman Emma Langille, sophomore Elena Ford, junior Cassanda Lunney and senior Mychaela Lunney. Second-year letter were awarded to sophomores Katelyn Michaud and Kelsie Spooner; juniors Kelsey Corriveau and Rachel Dow; and seniors Kelsey Buck and Paige Doyen. Third-year letters went to juniors Megan Byers and Gabby McCrum; and senior Brittany Good. Seniors Courtney Lyford and Michaela Powers received fourth-year letters.

Varsity golf coaches James York and Marie Waddell awarded certificates to sophomores Karson Eaton, Liam Hughes and Carter LaPointe. First-year letters went to freshman Jenna Hallett; sophomore Michael Boone; and seniors Connor Shaw and Matt Sullivan. Earning second-year letters were junior Gabe Player and senior Cody Merrill. A third-year letter was awarded to junior Adam Flynn and senior Evan Waddell received a fourth-year letter. Flynn and Waddell were also recognized for making the PVC All-Conference team. The golf team also won the PVC Championship and finished third in the state in Class B.

Boys varsity cross country coach Marie Beckum gave out certificates to freshmen Matt Burtt, James Churchill and Brandon Mancos; sophomores Michael Donovan, Josh Jones, Damien Tulley and Cyle McCleary (mgr.); and junior Joel Shay. First-year letters were awarded to freshman Noah Rossignol; sophomores Dustin Drabek and Frank Nunez; and seniors Lucas Cyr and Jacob Towle. Second-year letters went to sophomores Trevor Levesque, Saul Nunez and Matt Tilley; and senior Jesse Rochester. Senior Matt Eager received a fourth-year letter. Eager was also named to the PVC All-Conference team and qualified for the New England meet in Rhode Isle.

Lori Googins, the varsity girls cross country coach, awarded a certificate to freshman Madison Shaw (mgr). First-year letters went to freshman Amanda Palmer and Lydia Short; and sophomores Lauren Schiff and Shannon Sweeny. Second-year letters were awarded to sophomores Shelby Condon and Bonnie Corey; and junior Amanda Bennett. Junior Samantha Simonds received a third-year letter.

Varsity girls soccer coach Ralph Michaud and asst. coach Dillon Kingsbury handed out certificates to sophomore Danielle Allen and junior Kali Warner. First-year letters went to freshmen Hannah Graham, Krystal Kingsbury, Emma Kinney and Jordi Legassie; sophomore Shea Brown; junior Liza Buck; and senior Katie Patenaude. Second-year letters were awarded to juniors Emma Bartlett, Abbie Carrier, Katelyn McPherson, Kailey Shaw, Meredith Stewart and Haley Bouchard (mgr.); and senior Hilary Albert. Third-year letters went to juniors Karlee Bernier, Chandler Guerrette and Megan Ireland; and senior Stacia Caron (mgr.) Seniors Elise Jones, Chelsea Nickerson and Kayla Richards received fourth-year letters. Also receiving recognition for making the first team PVC All-Conference were Nickerson, who was also PVC Co-Player of the Year, and Richards, who was also a Butch Shaw Award recipient; second team was Guerrette and Ireland. Bernier was recognized for receiving honorable mention status. Michaud was saluted for being the PVC Co-Coach of the Year. The Wildcats run to the state Class B final was also highlighted during the ceremony.

Varsity boys soccer coach Joe Greaves and assistant coach Tim McCue presented certificates to sophomores Cody Lyford, Hannah Guerrette (mgr.) and Jeremy Shaw (mgr.). First-year letters went to freshmen Ben Nickerson and Colin McKay; sophomore Tyler Seeley; juniors Dakota Fox, Brandon LeBlanc and Khyver Lowe; and seniors Dylan Michaud and Ben Sipe. Second-year letters were given to juniors Michael Guerrette, Jonah Stephenson and Jake Williams; and seniors Jay Getman, Logan Good and Andrew Kofstad. Third-year letters went to seniors Sam Clukey, Ryley Norton, Jake Player and Cole Richards. Isaac LaJoie and Wilder York received fourth-year letters. York and Player also were recognized for making the PVC All-Conference first team. LaJoie, who also received the Butch Shaw Award, Richards, and Kofstad were second team. Richards and York are Eastern Maine Class B Regional All-Stars. The team was also lauded for making it to the Eastern Maine Class B final.
