SCOUTS COLLECT FOOD
On Nov. 12, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Presque Isle participated in their annual food drive. The Scouts go out the week before and leave bags with a list of suggested items. People wishing to make donations then place the bag by their front door for the Scouts to pick up. Some of the suggested items included: soup, baby formula, canned meat and fish, pastas, cereals, mixes, peanut butter, potatoes and more. Once the items are collected they are brought back to the Scout building where they are sorted and boxed. Once all items are boxed, they are then delivered to The GIFT Interfaith Food Pantry. GIFT is a non-profit partnership working to meet hunger needs in Presque Isle, Mapleton and Chapman, for distribution to families in need. Many Scouts, parents and siblings participated this year. Over 2,000 items were collected! That’s more then last year! Standing in front of some of the collected boxes of food are: Tom Peary, Scout master; Dave Berry, assistant Scout master; Carol Guerrette, Trace Cyr and David Cyr.
