GRAVES, Mildred A., 96, MARS HILL, December 5, 2011. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, at St Joseph’s Church of the Precious Blood. Interment will be in the Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

    MARS HILL – Mildred A. Graves, 96, died December 5, 2011, at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. She was born June 8, 1915, the daughter of, Bernard and Emma (Higgins) Ricker.

    She is survived by three sisters, Beatrice Guiggey, Marian Durost and Margie Keller. She also leaves many lovely friends that mean so much including, a special niece and nephew, Eighmey and Normie McPherson, “they took such good care of me after my precious husband, Bill Browning passed away”. Also surviving her is a special niece, Jan Beals. “Bill and I worked for Coles Express in Houlton and Presque Isle for 17 years. We then moved to Detroit,Mich., and worked for four years during WW II. After the war, we came back to Mars Hill, and worked five more years at Cole’s, before moving to Palm Beach,FL. I always worked and had many fine jobs. In 1967, I married Vince Graves, who predeceased me in 2006, and we built a home at the base of Mars Hill Mountain, where we spent 25 wonderful years, enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing”. She is also survived by step-children, Janette and Al Van Dam, Tonya and Ken Lewis and Gene and Vanessa Graves; many step-grand- and step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    Besides her parents and two husbands, she was predeceased by two sisters, Faustina Burlock and Beulah Gillespie; and a brother, Everett Ricker.

    A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, at St Joseph’s Church of the Precious Blood, with Rev Raymond Morency celebrant. Relatives and friends may call at Duncan Funeral Home in Mars Hill, from 9 a.m., until the time of the mass. Interment will be in the Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill.
