Church plans Christmas programs

    The Mars Hill United Baptist Church will be presenting special Christmas programs on Sunday, Dec. 18. The Junior Choir and Sunday School classes will be featured on Sunday morning during the 10:30 a.m. service.

The Senior Choir will be presenting their Cantata “Emmanuel: Celebrating Heaven’s Child” at 6 p.m. There will be refreshments following. All are welcome to attend.

 

Holiday concert

    Central Aroostook High School will be the place to be on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. The band and chorus from Fort Street Elementary School will be presenting their Christmas Concert. This is a wonderful way to enjoy some great music and support the school!

The Winterfest Committee will be holding their annual cookie sale during the concert, so plan on getting some delicious holiday goodies while you are there!

 

AHC events

    Upcoming events for the week of Dec. 14-20 at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill include: Wednesday — the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Crossword Puzzles at 9:30 a.m., and Dayroom Cinema “Walton Christmas” at 1:30 p.m.; Thursday has the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Karaoke with Fireman Fred at 1:30 p.m. and Faith Baptist at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 16, will feature Christmas Jingo at 9:30 a.m. and a Christmas Service at 1:30 p.m.; Karaoke with the Deschesnes at 1:30 p.m. and the United Baptist Church Junior and Senior Choirs at 6 p.m. on Saturday; Sunday will be a free day; Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Fancy Nails at 10 a.m., Communion at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. on Monday; the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rotary Club

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center, Dec. 6 at 6:30 a.m. Members discussed various business matters.

 

Pellet raffle

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club is holding a raffle for one ton of mixed pellets. Costs are $5 per ticket or $20 for five. The first-place winner will receive a ton of pellets, second and third will each get a half ton of pellets. The winners will be drawn during halftime of the varsity game on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Please see any Rotarian for tickets.

 

Library news

The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is planning on another online auction at www.biddingforgood.com. The time of the auction will be announced soon. Anyone with questions or who is willing to donate items for the auction is asked to contact Ryan Shaw at 429-9500 or at rshaw24@yahoo.com.

 

Student of the Month

    In a continuing effort to recognize outstanding student citizenship, the faculty of Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School has announced that lo-mhGebhart-cx-sh-50 Nicole Gebhart has been selected as one of the August/September  Students of the Month. Nicole Gebhart, daughter of Jonathan Gebhart, is in the 8th grade and lists gym, art, band and chorus as her favorite school subjects. She is active in soccer, softball, basketball, Yearbook Committee and the Anti-Bullying Task Force. Outside of school, Nicole enjoys singing, four-wheeling, playing the clarinet and piano, working outside with her dad and drawing. Her future plans include attending college at Texas A&M to become a veterinarian as well as working to become an artist and Olympic swimmer.
