Free business development class

PRESQUE ISLE — Aroostook County entrepreneurs who have been in business for more than one year and want to grow their business to the next level are invited to enroll in Women, Work, and Community’s upcoming class, Beyond Start-Up: Moving Your Business Forward.

The five-week class covers money management and financial tools critical to good decision-making; marketing strategies and strategic planning for growth; and the role of business financing. If your business is at a plateau or is not bringing in enough income, then this class will help you to address any roadblocks, develop a plan of action, and move your business forward.

The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce in Presque Isle from Jan. 10 through Feb. 7, with a follow-up session scheduled on March 6 to provide additional networking and support. Erica Quin-Easter, Microenterprise Coordinator for Women, Work, and Community in Aroostook County and the trainer for the class, notes that “Business owners focus intensely on start-up – but once you’re in business, it’s hard to take the time to plan for future growth. This class will give you the tools, time, and support to move your business to the next level.”

The Beyond Start-Up class is open to women, men, couples, business partners, and any entrepreneurs who have been in business for more than one year. Travel assistance may be available by request for entrepreneurs traveling from the St. John Valley or southern Aroostook county to attend the class.

Pre-registration is required by Friday, Jan. 6, and there is no fee for the training. To register for the class or for more information, call 764-0050 or email erica.quineaster@maine.edu.
