The Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project (SACAP), a non-profit volunteer organization founded in 1999, continues to support the mission of fostering a flourishing arts community in northern Maine.
“The “Resident Artist” project has been created to enhance the exciting cultural environment in the Visions Gallery on Main Street,” said Robert Cowperthwaite, president of SACAP.
On Dec. 24, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Robert McHatten, a lifelong resident of Aroostook County, will be the featured “Resident Artist”.
McHatten works in a wide variety of art mediums: painting with acrylics, watercolors, oils and pastels, stained glass, graphic art, and photography. He will be demonstrating his talents of working with polymer clay in creating jewelry and painting on rocks.
McHatten recently had his comic illustrations appear in the Fort Fairfield Journal and plans to pursue his passion for book illustrations in the near future.
