HAYNESVILLE – Roy Dalton Aldrich, 82, husband of the late Virginia Mae (Pierce) Aldrich, passed away Jan. 6, 2012, in Haynesville. He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Lincoln, the son of Reuben Roy and Viola (Carll) Aldrich.
He was educated in Wytopitlock and Lincoln schools, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a town manager and in wood harvesting, and was a foreman for Thompson Forest Products. He served on SAD 70 school board from 1967 to 1987. Dalton was always quick to respond with a wise remark and a quick little ditty.
He is survived by a sister, Marlene Stubbs of Orono; nephew, Bruce Aldrich and his wife, Susan, of Haynesville and their children, Christina Wright and her husband, Jon, and their children, Ryan and Reagan, of Littleton and Traci Aldrich of Bangor; niece, Teresa Millett and her husband, Bob, of Bangor and their daughter, Michele Connors and her husband, Drew, and their children, Emily and Logan, of Somers-worth, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Aldrich of Brewer; an aunt, Erma Bubar of Wytopitlock; several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Maxine Corey. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a young sister, Marilyn Aldrich; a brother, Robert Aldrich; and two sisters, Marguerite Steeves and Dorothy Libby.
A graveside service was held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery, Haynesville, with Joan Sullivan officiating. There was a gathering of family and friends at Haynesville Baptist Church after the service. Those who wish may donate in his memory to Haynesville Baptist Church.
