Alumni band entertains HHS

I’M WITH THE BAND — Houlton High School graduates dug out their instruments Jan. 7 to play with the Alumni Band. The popular event draws a wide array of former students.
    Great sound and lots of energy are words to describe the recent edition of the Houlton High School Alumni Band. On Saturday, Jan. 7, fans at the Houlton varsity girls game versus Stearns were treated to a performance by the Houlton High School Alumni Band. These dedicated individuals gathered for one hour to rehearse for the pre-game and halftime festivities.
    The most experienced alumni were David Flemington class of 1951 and Mike Clark class of 1954. This year’s family award was given to three members of the Sewell family: Jill Hutchinson Sewell 1979, Franny Sewell, 2006 and Liz Sewell 2007. The band was directed by Joe Fagnant and David McGillicuddy and treated to dinner by the SAD 29 Music Boosters organized by Michelle Daigle and Michelle Hathaway.
    The following alumni participated: Dave Flemington, Class of 1951; Michael Clark, 1954; Gary Bossie, 1957; Bob Ellis, 1961; Penny Saunders Nevers, 1961; Dave McGillicuddy, 1962; Jerry Riley, 1963; Brittany (Henderson) Benn, Jill (Hutchinson) Sewell and Debbie Melvin, 1979; Fred Grant, 1988; Jennifer Sargent Johnston, 1991; Hillary Ellis, 1996; Tyler Rowe and Matt Cummings, 2005; Sarah Harbison and Franny Sewell, 2006; Liz Sewell, Jerusha Benn, Andrew Larson, and Victoria Rowe, 2007; Max Rush, Casey Faulkingham, Jennifer Beasley and Michael Libby, 2008; Stephannie Kreyssig, 2010; and Ashton Carmichael, Tim Chase, Tyler Delano, Patrick Graham, Marcy Hernandez , Alishia Ledger, Chelsi Murray, Alexis Rush and Brian Tuttle, 2011.
