McHatten named executive VP,
chief operating officer at MMG
PRESQUE ISLE — MMG Insurance Co. of Presque Isle has recently announced the promotion of Matthew R. McHatten to executive vice president and chief operating officer.
“MMG continues to be focused on providing exceptional service to both its policyholders and agency partners while continuing to expand its franchise both in terms of products and territories,” said Larry M. Shaw, MMG president and chief executive officer. “We are excited about Matt’s promotion as he has played a major role in the company’s successful execution of a growth-oriented business plan.”
Matthew R. McHatten joined the company in 2001 and previously held the position of senior vice president of external operations. Prior to joining MMG, McHatten served as a vice president and relationship manager with KeyBank of Maine.
McHatten holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and finance from the University of Maine. He has also been very active throughout his career in community and insurance matters both in Aroostook County and beyond. Currently, McHatten is the president of the board of directors of Central Aroostook ARC, a member of the University of Maine College of Business advisory board, a member and past president of the Presque Isle Rotary Club and a member of the Management Conference Committee of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. McHatten was also named to the 2010 Maine Biz Next List, an award presented annually to 10 individuals recognized as being influential in the future of Maine’s economy.
