Florence E. Snowman, age 101, of Coudersport, PA died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.
Born on July 16, 1910, in New Denmark, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Hans and Matilda Rasmussen Carlsen. On July 14, 1931, in New Denmark, New Brunswick, Canada, she married Milton Ashley Snowman, who died on November 4, 1989. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together.
Mrs. Snowman graduated from the Grand Falls Business School in Canada. She and her husband had lived in the Coudersport area since 1953, moving to the area from Caribou, Maine. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and was dedicated to the family farm. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was honored recently as being among one of the oldest citizens of Potter County.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Helen P. Snowman of Coudersport; three grandchildren, Stephanie Gerhart and her husband, Terry, of Coudersport, Kara Wulff and her husband, Michael of Delray Beach, FL, Greg Snowman of Coudersport; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her only son, Galen A. Snowman, who died on December 10, 2011.
Friends were invited to Florence’s Life Celebration on Saturday, January 21, 2012, with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. at the Fickinger Funeral Home of Coudersport. Funeral and committal services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Reverend Janis Yskamp officiating. Burial was in Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at Sweden Valley Manor, 1028 E. Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
