Momentum Aroostook to host Lunch & Learn
PRESQUE ISLE — Momentum Aroostook will host a special luncheon on Tuesday, March 13, for local professionals to learn more about Leadership Maine and consider being a part of this one-of-a-kind leadership development opportunity.
The Leadership Maine Lunch and Learn hosted by Momentum Aroostook will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Northeastland Hotel. Cheryl Miller, from the Maine Development Foundation, and Jason Parent, Leadership Maine graduate from the Rho Class and well-known local business professional, will be on hand at to talk about Leadership Maine and why the program is so beneficial for the area’s up-and-coming business leaders.
Leadership Maine is a Maine Development Foundation program that prepares statewide leaders to shape Maine’s changing economy. It was designed nearly 20 years ago to educate, inform and engage leaders from across the state in a year-long experience to develop a better understanding of Maine’s diverse regions, its economy, its challenges and its people. Upon graduation, each participant is asked what they will do, either in their own communities, or statewide, to move Maine forward.
“Momentum Aroostook is pleased to provide this opportunity for our local business and community leaders to learn more about Leadership Maine,” Scott Violette, chair of the Momentum Aroostook Steering Committee, said. “We’re hoping this will help to answer a lot of questions about this exciting statewide leadership development program and also encourage greater participation in Leadership Maine from the northern Maine business community.”
Momentum Aroostook is part of a statewide initiative called REALIZE!Maine, that aims to help strengthen the network of young people in Maine professions and workplaces and to help entice more young professionals to locate in the state. In 2009, Momentum received the Maine Development Foundation’s REALIZE!Maine Champion Award, a statewide award of excellence.
A buffet lunch will be served; cost is $10 per person. For more information about Momentum Aroostook or the Lunch and Learn, visit www.momentumaroostook.com, check out Momentum’s Facebook page or e-mail momentumaroostook@gmail.com.
