The Big Bad Wolf
To the editor:
The United States of America has the largest and most powerful arsenal of war-making equipment in the world known to man. Yet, isn’t it strange the countries of the world aren’t afraid of the big bad wolf anymore.
As the only major power to emerge from World War II with its population, infrastructure and economy largely intact, the United States saw itself as the leader of the postwar world. Because of this power and influence, many countries bowed to the demands of the American government.
However, as in the past, these countries developed nuclear weapons along with rebuilding their countries and economies and started to resist and rebel against the American influence in their lives.
The big bad wolf was becoming a nation with a financial crisis and a broken economy ready for the slaughter, a country with a government out of control.
There are countries that have openly stated that sooner or later they will attack America. Think it can’t happen? Remember Pearl Harbor. One of the smallest countries in the world took on America in a war Washington didn’t think could or would happen.
Today America is sleeping while countries are working day and night on plans to destroy America and our way of life. The destruction of the Twin Towers is just the beginning. They will not stop until the White House and Capitol are a pile of ashes.
Many organizations have been created to try and prevent wars and conflicts in the world but have been ineffective in doing so: the League of Nations after WW I, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization after WW II and there are many others.
What have we accomplished in fighting wars and conflicts since WW II? Korea is still divided and on the verge of another invasion by North Korea against South Korea. Vietnam is still a communist country. Iraq is no better off today than it was when America invaded their country. It is still in turmoil and without proper leadership. Afghanistan will return to its old way of doing things as soon as the American forces leave.
Our military forces are scattered throughout the world. Serving what purpose? These men and women could be home guarding our own borders and homeland.
Have we made any friends out of the wars and conflicts we have fought? None that I can see. They have consumed our wealth and cost us the lives of our military men and women. What do we get for our efforts – Americans go home, get out of our country.
Sleep on America and keep believing your world is safe from the tribulations coming upon our beloved America.
