A workshop, “Options and Opportunities: A Workshop for Farmers and Farm Supporters in Southern Aroostook County” will be held Friday, March 16, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Military Street in Houlton. This workshop is part of the Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District’s Winter Ag School and will feature various concurrent sessions on marketing, farm trends, taxation, easements, farm business planning, budgeting, energy efficiency, right to farm ordinances, estate planning and more.
Presenters include John Jemison, Cooperative Extension; Marada Cook, Crown of Maine Coop; Aaron Hoshide, University of Maine; Stephanie Gilbert, Department of Ag; Stacy Benjamin, Maine Farmland Trust; Andrew McPartland, JH McPartland; Brian Hamel, Thompson Hamel; and Laureen Bither, Town of Houlton. Workshop is free with lunch provided. Pre-registration is required with a minimum attendance of 25 participants in order to hold this workshop.
