Celebrating — One of Houlton’s oldest and most respected citizens, Frank P. Berry celebrated his 96th birthday. A special part of the day was devoted to the acceptance by Mr. Berry of a check in settlement for his life insurance policy which he has outlived. Insurance actuaries stop calculating on the life of an individual when he or she reaches their 96th birthday. Making the presentation was Charles W. Harmon, 79, field underwriter for New York Life Insurance Co. in Houlton. The Berry Family built a home on the corner of Leonard and Court streets and it remained in the family until 1916.
Parking meters — An ordinance passed recently concerning a two-hour limit on metered parking areas will be strictly enforced. Persons parking for more than two hours in metered areas will be subject to a summons to court and a monetary fine.
