Caribou BPW announces available college aid

The Caribou Business and Professional Women’s Organization has announced three scholarship opportunities for area students will be awarded in June by the local group.

• High school seniors entering an accredited college may apply for the Viola Willard High School Scholarship. Willard, a retired educator and long-time member of Caribou BPW, served as the State BPW/Maine president in 1977-78.

• College students entering their junior year may apply for the Caribou BPW Interim Scholarship.  

• Any woman who is at least 25 years of age and is a first-time entrant to an institute of higher learning may apply for the Caribou BPW Non-Traditional Scholarship.

Qualification information and application forms are available at the Caribou High School and local colleges. Completed applications are to be mailed to Caribou BPW, P.O. Box 412, Caribou, ME  04736 and must be received by April 20.   

Also available are five scholarship opportunities at the state level. The Futurama Foundation is accepting applications for the BPW/MAINE Futurama Scholarships. Two of these scholarships are for high school seniors accepted into an accredited college or university. The remaining three scholarships are for women already in college or who are planning to return to college or continue their education.

All forms and necessary information are available at local colleges or may be accessed at the BPWmaine.org website. At the bottom of the page, click on BPW/ME Futurama Foundation which links to the scholarship forms.  

The deadline for these applications is also April 20 and completed forms are to be mailed to Caribou BPW, P.O. Box 412, Caribou, ME 04736.
