Little League meeting

The taste of summer last week was a reminder that baseball season will soon be here, and the Caribou Little League will celebrate their 46th season in 2012. With games scheduled to start in the middle of May, the schedule for the parents’ introductory meeting and tryouts have been announced.

There will be a meeting for parents of all returning players and children interested in joining the Caribou Little League on Monday, April 2 in the Caribou Middle School Cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. Parents will be able to register their children for tryouts.  Players must be between the ages of 9 and 12 on May 1, 2012 to be eligible for the season. Parents should bring a birth certificate for age verification for new players.

Three tryouts are scheduled based on the residence of the player, and all new players must try out to be selected for a team.

The tryout for Stockholm and New Sweden residents for the Northstars team will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the New Sweden School Gymnasium.

The tryout for Union 122 residents for the two Woodland based teams was not finalized, and will be listed on the Caribou Little League website.

Tryouts for all other eligible players will be held on Saturday, April 7 in the Caribou Recreation Center starting at 9 a.m.

A make-up tryout will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. at the Caribou Middle School gymnasium for new players who can’t attend their scheduled tryout.

Caribou Little League is also looking for people interested in umpiring this season. Training will be provided. Contact Umpire-in-Chief Kelly Page at 232-0300 if you are interested.
