TAMC welcomes Martin

PRESQUE ISLE — The Aroostook Medical Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen S. Martin has joined with TAMC forming TAMC Eye Care Services. Dr. Martin, who has served the residents of northern Maine for over 25 years, will continue to see patients and provide services as medical director of ophthalmology. His office location at the hospital will not change.

“This integration of services is an exciting new development at TAMC,” said Sylvia Getman, TAMC president and CEO. “We are continually evaluating the needs of our community to be sure that we offer the right services to meet those needs.”

“In similar exciting news we will be adding another ophthalmologist, Dr. Mark Morin, to TAMC Eye Care Services this spring,” said Getman. “Adding Dr. Morin will help address the need for additional ophthalmology care in our area.”

“Joining with TAMC provides for the long-term continuation of our practice,” said Dr. Stephen Martin. “This will allow timely access to high-quality eye care for our patients as well as the ability to grow and offer new services.”

Dr. Martin, originally from Madawaska, returned to northern Maine in 1986. He has a busy medical and surgical ophthalmology practice caring for patients with eye disease including cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes.

Dr. Morin served as the senior ophthalmologist providing and directing comprehensive ophthalmology and refractive eye surgery services for Trinity Regional Eye Care in Williston, N.D., before deciding to return home to Maine.
