Rescue boggan donated
to Nordic Heritage Ski Club in Presque Isle
PRESQUE ISLE — The Nordic Heritage Sport Club is now the owner of a brand new Equinox rescue boggan thanks to the Presque Isle Rotary Club and TAMC’s Crown Ambulance.

The new rescue boggan will be used during events at the Nordic Heritage Center to transport anyone that has sustained a sports injury, or is suffering from a medical emergency, quickly and safely to a nearby ambulance or first aid station. Crown staff worked with the Presque Isle Rotary to raise funds for the rescue boggan.
“Having a dedicated, on-site rescue boggan helps staff to provide a rapid response to an emergency,” said Perry Jackson, TAMC Crown Ambulance Manager. “We thought that it would be safest if the Nordic Heritage Center had their own rescue boggan available for all events, instead of having to borrow one or wait for one to respond from the fire department every time an emergency occurred.”
The Nordic Heritage Sport Club hosts winter sports events for local athletes, as well as world-class events.
“The rescue boggan is a big asset to the Nordic Heritage Sports Club because we previously had to borrow a boggan from a local fire department, which leaves them without one,” said Nordic Heritage Ski Club President Nathan Berry. “While the larger, world-class events get the most recognition, there are high school and middle school events at Nordic Heritage Center every winter, so having the best safety equipment available is crucial.”
The Nordic Heritage Sport Club promotes healthy outdoor recreation year round to residents, visitors and athletes. The rescue boggan, with a slight adaptation, is capable of being used during the warmer months of the year as well as during the winter.
“The Presque Isle Rotary Club has once again stepped up and showed their support for the Nordic Heritage Sport Club. We have a world class facility that is available to adults and children of Maine free of charge,” added Berry. “We would not be able to offer this level of experience without the support of organizations like Rotary and TAMC.”
