On April 29 at 6 a.m. an RSU 39 school bus carrying 12 Caribou High School advanced French students and their teachers departed for Quebec City, where for three days, the group immersed themselves in the language, history, and culture of the former French colony. The students engaged in numerous activities, including visits to la Basilique Ste. Anne de Beaupré, la Citadelle, le Canyon Ste. Anne, l’Observatoire, le Musée de la Civilisation, and l’Aquarium. The travelers also spent time exploring the old walled city and eating at local French restaurants, having the occasion to use much of what they have been learning in the classroom. By the second day, many were thinking in French and speaking the language regularly and fluently. All the CHS student participants agreed that the trip was a very worthwhile and fun experience. Participating in the Quebec trip, were from left: Daniel Fishman, CHS World Language Department staff member; Caleb Chapman, Nick Pucci, Kjetil Rossignol, Elsa Thibodeau, Annie Collins, Haley Hunter, Marc Sturzl, Olivia Sleeper, Meredith Sleeper, Ashley Richards, Emma Duplissie-Cyr, Kayla Cormier, Anaelle Croteau (visiting French student) and Madame Wanda Theriault, CHS French teacher.
