Anaelle Croteau, center, from Caen, France, stands between Mr. Daniel Fishman, Caribou High School French teacher, and CHS junior Kayla Cormier, Anaelle’s local student host. Croteau recently spent a week at Caribou High School visiting language classes and talking about life in France. She has been a pen-pal with Fishman for over five years, and this year she came to the United States for the first time at the invitation of her longtime correspondent. The two first met when Fishman was visiting her school in France back in 2006.  While in Caribou, Croteau stayed at the Cormier residence for the week and attended CHS daily with Cormier, making friends with many other CHS students. Cormier hopes to travel to France soon to visit with her new friend and become acquainted with her life there. Fishman travels to France annually and connects American high school students with their contemporaries in France.
