Shop ‘n Save 21, Eagles 6

Shop ‘n Save got hits from eight players on their way to a 21-6 victory over the Eagles in Woodland.

Parker Deprey had two doubles and a triple, Carter Conley an inside-the-park home run and two singles, and Alex Ezzy a double and two singles. Tristan Mancos added a two-run inside-the-park home run.

On the mound, Ezzy started and pitched three innings to get the victory. Caleb Brown went two innings,and Mancos pitched the sixth.

For the Eagles, Callie McBreairty had two hits, including an RBI double. Caleb Trombley and Wyatt Taggett had doubles.

Bank of Maine 8, VFW 6

Bank of Maine picked up its first win of the season with solid pitching from Brennan Poitras and Marcus Caudill backed by terrific team defense. Poitras pitched 3-2/3 solid innings with eight strikeouts, and Jaelynn Doody led the offense with a three-hit night, including an inside-the-park home run. Benoit Levesque made a terrific catch in left field to stop a sixth-inning rally from VFW.

For VFW, Evan Desmond pitched 4-1/3 innings of solid relief, giving up four runs while notching five strikeouts. VFW was led at the plate by Matt Nadeau with two hits.  

S.W. Collins 17, Eagles 0

Dan Randolph led the way for S.W. Collins with an inside-the-park home run, a double and two singles.  Winning pitcher Tyler Wright hit a triple and two singles while striking out 11 in 4-2/3 innings on the mound.  Corey Jandreau hit a triple, a double and a single and scored four runs, while Chandler Bell added two singles.

For the Eagles, Hollie McDougal made a great catch in left field, and Caleb Trombley and Wyatt Taggett made big plays to end S.W. Collins rallies.

Knights of Columbus 17, Tigers 3

For the visiting Knights of Columbus, Gabe Rand, Kyle Soetaert-Beaulier and Nic Sleeper combined for 11 hits, while Jo Jo Fields added two hits and Dylan Bonville added a single to help the Knights gain their first win of the season. Soetaert-Beaulier, Colby Bonville, Fields, and Rand shared pitching duties, combining for 13 strikeouts while only giving up three bases on balls.

For the home Woodland Tigers, Cameron Doody, Megan Thorton and Brandon Manter each had a hit.

Shop ‘n Save 11, Police 5

Shop ‘n Save scored 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 5-5 tie and went on to pull out an 11-5 victory over the Police.

Parker Deprey had three hits and two RBI to lead the way. Tristan Mancos had a two-run double, and Alex Ezzy added a double and scored three runs. On the mound, Deprey went the first three innings and Mancos pitched the final three and earned the victory.

For Police, Dawson Hebert was the hitting leader with three hits, including a double. Scott Long, Bailey Griffeth and Drew Evans added singles.

VFW 13, S.W. Collins 10

On a nice Saturday afternoon, the VFW Blue Birds and S.W. Collins teams finished their rain-suspended affair. VFW came out strong in the second inning, scoring five runs. But in the top of the third, Collins battled back adding four to their total, bringing the score to 6-5. The Blue Birds rusty bats came alive in the fourth, banging out seven hits, while scoring six runs and taking a seven-run lead.

S.W. Collins kept fighting, making a nice charge in the sixth, but fell just short. Eight kids contributed hits for VFW, while good plays in the field were made by Willow Whitten and Josh Cummings.

For Collins, Sydney Thompson pitched 2-2/3 solid innings, getting stronger as the game went on, while also getting a hit and scoring twice. Also, Dan Randolph pitched a strong 2-1/3 innings, striking out seven batters. He had a three-run triple in the sixth inning.
