Right place but wrong time

To the editor:

On May 28, the Memorial Day Parade was sponsored by the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 of the American Legion, along with the VFW of Caribou and the Caribou Chamber of Commerce. At the lineup in front of the courthouse a person running for Congress approached me about marching in the parade with his family. He was told that he could, but they could not carry any political banners. He ignored what he was told and carried them anyway.

The Memorial Day Parade is to honor the memory of those who gave their lives in service of their country. Being a 20-year veteran he used the Memorial Day Parade for his political gain and disrespected the veterans of this nation. Is this who we want to represent the veterans of the State of Maine?
