With Memorial Day behind, Jerry Pellum of Ventura Ca. will be visiting the area once again to not only reconnect with several new found friends he met while visiting last year, but also to ‘up-right’ a few headstones such as the Joseph Shorey’s family marker from the early to mid-1800s in Bancroft, as well as placing the first headstone on the Pellum, John Travis/Travers family plot in Houlton, and of course the Civil War headstone of Ezekiel Scott in Bancroft.
Pellum has said that it would be a pleasure to spend the peak summer days in the Bancroft and Houlton areas ‘up-righting’ the headstones of past relatives and loved ones who have given so much. It is so sad to see these grave stones fall to the ground!

Pellum’s genealogy starts in England, ends up in Canada, fighting in the War of 1812. John [Pellum] was given land for serving near Rever De Chute. He moved into Maine after the war and then his descendents moved to Portland, Oregon in about 1906. Pellum is the great, great, great grand son of John Pellum the first.
