To the editor:
If you did not know, the Caribou outdoor pool is open this summer only 2-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6-8 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday starting June 25th through August 10th. I find this to be very inadequate for the needs of our community.
Two hours a day?! Kids during the summer really need a place they can go and hang out, swim, have fun with their friends and all in a safe and supervised place. These hours do not provide this. I think there will be a lot of parents bringing their kids to the Presque Isle pool; their hours are a whole lot better: General Swim hours are from 2-4:45 p.m. and 6-7:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours on Saturday and Sunday are from 1-4:45 p.m. We don’t even have any hours on the weekend!
It seems like every year, I become more and more disappointed with our recreation department. I really do hope this changes. If it is about money, I believe we need to take the money from some other program to provide a better summer for our kids. Because, really, do we want kids out getting into trouble, finding unsafe things to do? I know I don’t!
