RSVP honors County volunteers
Aroostook Retired and Senior Volunteer Program recently honored its volunteers with a luncheon and award banquet on May 10.
Sponsored by Aroostook Area on Aging, the Aroostook RSVP volunteers range in age from 55 to 94, and donate their time to help meet critical needs in county non-profit and public programs, such as medical transportation, friendly visiting, Meals on Wheels delivery, support of thrift shops and food banks, hospitals, nursing homes, animal shelters, museums, serving at schools, the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge, and Warm Hands and Feet Initiative.
Judy Anderson, RSVP Program Director, served as master of ceremonies. Volunteers donated over 77,510 hours of service to county agencies and programs last year. Steve Farnham, Aroostook Agency on Aging executive director, also made comments about the significant contributions each volunteer made to the people, programs and agencies of Aroostook County.
Dozens of businesses and organizations throughout the area also provided support for the day. For more information about Aroostook RSVP or if interested in volunteering, please contact Anderson at 764-3396 or 1-800-439-1789.
