Halfway Home Pet Rescue President Norma Milton knows that many supporters have been following the story of Tabitha (formerly Smokey) on Facebook with much interest. Tabitha’s been recovering at the rescue from burns and smoke inhalation she suffered from a house fire in March. “Her owner perished in the fire and this beautiful girl was found hiding under some furniture,” Milton said. “She’s had a rough time, but is healing well.” Milton says that Tabitha is ready for adoption. “Tabitha is a sweet girl who responds eagerly to tender loving care,” Milton said, adding that more of Tabitha’s story can be read in People Magazine Online. Her adoption fee is $25 for the rest of the month, as June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month at HHPR. FMI, call Milton at 492-21722. HHPR volunteers will be hosting an adoption fair on Saturday, June 30, next to Ouellette’s Variety on Sweden Street, (formerly Images) from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
