DIRIGO GIRLS & BOYS STATE

DIRIGO GIRLS STATE was held at Husson College in Bangor June 17-22. At the weeklong summer program, girls learned about state government, responsible citizenship, and how our local, county, and state governments function through a mock Dirigo State government. The Presque Isle Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Aroostook County Letter Carriers, S.W. Collins Co., Katahdin Trust, Elks Lodge 1954 and Dead River Co. provided the financial sponsorship for the PIHS student delegates. DIRIGO BOYS STATE was held at Thomas College in Waterville June 17-22. The one-week summer program, sponsored by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, gives students the opportunity to learn about state government, responsible citizenship, and how local, county and state governments function through a mock Dirigo State government. They learned to campaign for local, county and state offices, and then organized and carried out the functions of state government.
