JIMMO, Josephine “Josie” M. (O’Claire), 88, ASHLAND, at Belfast, July 31, 2012. Arrangements are in the care of Riposta Funeral Homes, Belfast.
ASHLAND – Josephine “Josie” M. (O’Claire) Jimmo, 88, died July 31, 2012, at a Belfast health care facility. She was born in Ashland, November 3, 1923, the daughter of Felix and Sophie (Beaulieu) O’Claire.
Josie was a wife and homemaker, raising seven children of her own and a foster daughter, as well as half of the other children who lived in her area of Ashland. She did many things – she was “Jackie” of all trades. She was most proud of her ownership of a variety of businesses including restaurants, a hotel for a number of years, and a taxi business.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Victor J. Jimmo Sr.; two sons, Raymond and Daniel; and a son-in-law, Arthur Knowlton.
Josie is survived by her children, Richard and his wife, Marlene of Ashland, Victor Jr. and his wife, Lois of Wallingford, Roland Sr. and his wife, Sheila of Ashland, Julie and her husband, Stanley Goode of Wallingford, Pam and her husband, Joe Brylanski of Texas, Joanne and her husband, Arthur Micheau of Caribou; a daughter-in-law, Carol Knowlton of New Mexico; her brother, Gilbert “Sonny” O’Claire of Ashland; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. On-line condolences may be offered at www.ripostafh.com
