The best time to be a kid is arguably during the annual Caribou Cares about Kids Festival. With fun activities around every turn, Caribou Cares about Kids is a great chance to enjoy the fleeting summer.

Events begin on Thursday, Aug. 9,with lunch served up by F.A. Peabody representatives to celebrate their 10-years-in-Caribou anniversary and a scavanger hunt at the famed Nylander Museum. — the fun doesn’t stop until Sunday night, Aug. 12, after the conclusion of Ride Aroostook, a two-day bicycle tour of central Aroostook County that logs 150 miles of picturesque countryside.

In between, Caribou’s packed with events that are kid-friendly, free, and filled with family fun like the annual Caribou Cares about Kids Parade on Friday night, Aug, 10, and Adventure Teague Park on Saturday, Aug. 11.

New to Adventure Teague Park this year is a waterslide ride and participants are encouraged to bring a towel in order to enjoy the activity without spending the rest of the day soggy.

A great time to be an adult, when was the last time Caribou featured a good ol’ pig roast? Members of the Relay for Life Team Warrior Walkers are bringing the event to Caribou this year. Kids may not yet appreciate the savory flavors of the pig roast, but Caribou will! The annual festival features unique activities for kids at heart. Reminiscent of childhoods when entire summers were spent bike riding from one friend’s house to another, Ride Aroostook features a two-day, 150-mile trek through central Aroostook County. Nothing says “summer” quite like a bike ride, and there’s no event quite like Ride Aroostook!
