HOULTON, Maine — The town of Houlton is looking for a few good individuals to serve on the Town Council, SAD 29 school board, Board of Budget Review, Cary Library trustees or Houlton Water Company board of directors.
According to Houlton Town Clerk Cathy O’Leary, nomination papers are now available for a number of open seats. Up for grabs are two three-year seats on the town council; three three-year terms for SAD 29 school board; a one-year seat and three three-year seats for the board of budget review; two three-year terms on the Houlton Water Company; and one five-year term on the Cary Library.
Nancy Ketch and Michael Jenkins currently hold the council seats. Ketch is unable to run for re-election as part of the town’s term limits policy. A councilor who serves two consecutive three-year terms must sit out for two years before running for re-election.
Jenkins has publicly expressed his interest in running for re-election.
For SAD 29, the three terms that are expiring belong to Tammy Goetsch, Bruce Clark and Lori Holmes. All three have expressed a desire to seek re-election to the school board.
Nomination forms are available at the Houlton Town Office, located on 21 Water St. Candidates must collect 77 signatures and return those forms by Friday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.
