GALIPEAU, Paul Reneau, 62, WARREN, Aug. 15, 2012. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Aug. 25, at Heartspot Stables, Thomaston, ME. Arrangements in care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.

    WARREN — Paul Reneau Galipeau, 62, died unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Paul was born in Lewiston, Maine, October 23, 1949, the son of Eva and Reneau Galipeau. Growing up in the Lewiston-Auburn area, he attended Lewiston High School graduating in 1967, then attended Paul Smith’s College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. He also received further education at UMass-Amherst.
    On August 16, 1969, Paul married Susan Lacasse of Lewiston. They were married for ten years and had two sons Scott and Sean. Paul later married Judy McNeil on June 18, 1994, and had a son Hunter.
    Paul began his career in the US Forest Service and later went on to work at Bath Iron Works as a ship fitter and contract negotiator. He retired from Bath Iron works in 1998. He attended the Oklahoma Farrier School and began his own farrier business. He quickly proved himself to be a professional, courteous and skillful farrier who was respected by his clients, peers and other professionals in the horse industry and will be greatly missed.
    Paul had many interests and hobbies. Some of these interests included dog-sled racing, mountaineering, Boy Scouting, camping and canoeing. His love of horses extended well beyond his profession as he also enjoyed competitive trail riding, team penning and reining. He also gained great joy from motorcycling and enjoyed many hours riding his Harley-Davidson. Friends and family have always admired Paul’s integrity, perseverance, dedication and love of life.
    As an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, Paul served as District Training Chair and OA Chapter Advisor. He was a longtime Scouter on the local, district and council level, and was a tremendous asset in training numerous volunteers throughout the years. He was the father of three Scouts and was instrumental in bringing a strong Scouting program to the Warren community. Paul was an exceptional individual and lived both the values of Scouting and the Order of the Arrow to their fullest and always put others before himself.
    Paul is survived by Judy Galipeau, his loving wife of 18 years; son, Scott Galipeau and his wife, Christa and their twin daughters, Piper and Sierra of Presque Isle; son, Sean Galipeau-Eldridge and his wife, Leah and their daughters, Emma, Willa and Brenna of Otisfield; son, Hunter Galipeau of Warren. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Pelchat of Arizona; sister, Joan DeOrsey and her husband, Stan of Monmouth; brother-in-law, Jim McNeil and his wife, Esther of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Mike McNeil and his wife, Debbie of Rockland; sister-in-law, Ruth Carney and her husband, Jim of Thomaston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2012, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 25, at Heartspot Stables, 26 Woodledge Lane, Thomaston, ME 04861.
