HOYT, Roy E., 83, BLAINE, at Presque Isle, August 14, 2012. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Homes, Presque Isle.
BLAINE – Roy E. Hoyt, 83, our loving husband, father, uncle and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the Presque Isle hospital. He was born on Nov. 12, 1928, in Mars Hill, the son of Clayton and Florence (Bell) Hoyt, and resided in Blaine all his life.
He worked for Brewer’s Garage for many years, and then for Dead River Company of Mars Hill as a burner technician. He loved working with his hands and was a “Jack of all trades”. For 57 years, he lived in the home that he had built, and then in the apartment that he built with the help of Charles Durost until his passing. In the later years, he loved to read and devoured many books with his reading buddy, Nancy Beals. He also enjoyed watching the alpacas from his living room window. Dad, “Papa” you will be missed but we are at peace knowing that you are in a far better place and looking forward to the day when we shall meet again. He was a member of the First Free Baptist Church of Blaine and the Aroostook Lodge #197.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Daphene (Brewer) Hoyt of Blaine; two daughters and their husbands, Pauline and Richard Porter of Blaine, Ruth and Richard Clockedile of Alfred, ME; two sisters, Priscilla Lenentine of Lodi, WI, and Clara Endres of Lakeland, FL. Papa will be dearly missed by his four grandchildren: Tracey Milliard and her husband, Steven, Laura Lee Durost and her husband, Troy, Joshua and Ian Clockedile; great-grandchildren: Courtney, Logan, Bailee, Emilee, Will and Maizy.
He was predeceased by a brother, Elbridge Hoyt; and two sisters, Una and Geraldine Hoyt.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at the First Free Baptist Church in Blaine with Rev. Gardner Smith officiating. Friends called 1 p.m. Friday until time of service at the church. Interment was at Tapley Cemetery, Blaine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the First Free Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 109 Blaine, Maine 04734.
