Wildcat golf team wins one, loses one

    The Presque Isle Wildcat golf team opened its season last week, losing at Houlton last Wednesday before besting Caribou at home Thursday.

    In the win, Wildcats Karson Eaton and Adam Flynn both shot 42s to share medalist honors.

    Also for PI, Josh Gordon shot a 45, Gabe Player and Mike Boone both carded 46s and Liam Hughes came in with a 48.

    Dayne and Donovan Savage both had 50s to lead the visiting Vikings.

    A day earlier, PI made the trip to Houlton and fell by 12 strokes, 161-173.

    Flynn and the Shires’ Cole McLaughlin were the medalists with scores of 38.

    Boone had a 44 and Gordon a 45 for the Wildcats, while Player had a 46 and Hughes and Jenna Hallett both totaled 48.   

    The Central Aroostook Panthers hosted Fort Fairfield last Wednesday at Mars Hill Country Club, with the Tigers winning by a score of 10.5 to .5 in match play and 188-218 in stroke play.

    Robbie Watson was the medalist and had a 45, while Brandon Clark had a 45 to lead the Tigers. Teammate Tyler Churchill carded a 49.

    Alex Folsom had CA’s best score with a 44.

    On Thursday, the Tigers hosted and defeated both Ashland and Hodgdon at Aroostook Valley Country Club.

    Mark Corella of the Hornets had the low round of the day with a 45.

    Fort was led by Noah Bernard’s 38 and Watson’s 39.
