SHERMAN – Vernald T. Stubbs, 87, a kind and gentle man left us September 18, 2012. He was born January 20, 1925 in Stacyville, the son of Vance and Minnie (Derosier) Stubbs.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII in the South Pacific as a Storekeeper 3rd Class aboard LSM 13 (nicknamed Black Cat). He was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish and the Sherman VFW Post #2299. He greatly enjoyed the many friendships he made at Jerry Pond Camps.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda (Hall) Stubbs of Sherman; a son, Kevin Stubbs of Weston and his children, Angela, Kelly, and Wade; a daughter, Cheryle Joslyn and her husband, Dan, of Whitefield and their children, Brooke, Travis, and Rae; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Connie Cannon.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29 at Patten Cemetery with Deacon Al Burleigh officiating. A time of fellowship will be held immediately following at the Sherman V.F.W. For an online memory book and to leave condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com.
