Independent thinking needed in Augusta

To the editor:

Party politics sometimes dominate our elections, but here in Maine we also have a long tradition of supporting good independents who belong to neither party. This November we can continue that tradition by voting for Mark Goughan for House of Representatives, representing District 4 (Caribou).

Mark has served the city for years as “Farmer Mark” on the City Council, listening to each and every side while also being clear about his principles. He has shown he won’t have any difficulty shaking up Augusta when it’s needed. He is one of the hardest-working, most genuine people to run for office for years. He is a fiscal conservative and likes nothing more than figuring out how to spend taxpayer money in the wisest, most cost-effective way possible.

Mark’s lifetime in agriculture and running a small business are just the kind of experience we need in Augusta. I know I’m putting aside my party affiliation to vote for Mark, and I hope you will also help send him to Augusta to work for us.
