ASHLAND – Flossie R. Berry, 73, died October 11, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Washburn, Aug. 18, 1939, the daughter of Earl and Amber (Alley) Corey.
She had worked for a number of years in the meat department of local grocery stores. Flossie was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary of Ashland and the Ashland Senior Citizens Club. She also volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and the Ashland Area Food Pantry.
She is survived by five daughters, Rhonda Berry of Presque Isle, Denise Hackett and her partner, Randy Chapman of Troy, Alane Bennett and husband, Lee Jr. of Ashland, Cindy Caron and husband, Chris of Ashland, Bonnie Pelletier and husband, Cary of Ashland; three sons: Eugene Berry and his partner, Larry West of Colorado Springs, CO, Neil Berry of Fort Fairfield, and Phillip Berry and wife, Heather of Presque Isle; two sisters, Kay Ridgdon of Georgia and Carrie Hannah of Mass.; four brothers, George Corey of Virginia, Rodney, Clayton, and Ivan Corey, all of Washburn; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her special friend of many years, Curley Whittaker of Ashland.
The family is most appreciative of the support and comfort of special friend, Lori McCausland during the last several days of her life.
A funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus, Presque Isle, on Monday, with Pastor Ronald LaPointe officiating. Committal service and interment followed at the Ashland Municipal Cemetery.
