PRESQUE ISLE — A plane being used to transport a patient on Sunday had to make an emergency landing at the Northern Maine Regional Airport on Sunday when it lost an engine.
“A plane used by Fresh Air to transport patients ran into trouble Nov. 25 when it lost its right engine at 2,500 feet, shortly after takeoff from the Presque Isle airport,” said Vince Baldwin, captain of the Presque Isle Fire Department.
Baldwin said firefighters responded as the plane circled back to the runway to land. The incident occurred around 7:14 p.m.
“The pilot was Glen Martin. There were a total of four people onboard — a patient, the pilot and two emergency personnel making the flight with the patient,” said Baldwin.
No one was injured and arrangements were made for alternative transportation for the patient.
No information was available on what caused the engine failure on the aircraft, a Cessna 421.
