CARIBOU — Over 100 Comfort Kits were recently assembled for local disaster victims serviced by the American Red Cross. Congregation members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Caribou donated personal hygiene items to create Comfort Kits for men, women, children, infants and even pet kits containing items such as food, bowls and toys for cats and dogs.

Project Organizer Laura Andrews, who is also a staff member at Caribou Inn and Convention Center, sees first hand the devastation and emotional heartbreak of disaster victims upon arrival at the hotel; she brought the idea of making Comfort Kits to her church group hoping to help offset the Red Cross costs for providing comfort kits to victims. Chalai Benson, co-organizer, and 45 church members were involved with the comfort kit project.
