PATTEN — The Patten Lumbermen’s Museum, Inc. has transferred funds to establish an endowment with the Maine Community Foundation, it was announced recently.
“The foundation has an excellent track record of managing nonprofit endowments,” said Rhonda Brophy curator/director of The Patten Lumbermen’s Museum, Inc. “This service allows us to look to the future, ensuring the continued mission of the museum,” Rhonda Brophy said.
Currently, MaineCF manages more than 145 nonprofit endowments of different sizes from across the state of Maine. “Maine relies on the critical work done by its nonprofits,” said Meredith Jones, MaineCF president and CEO. “Managing their endowments is one way we can help them to grow and prosper.”
Through its diversified primary investment portfolio, MaineCF offers nonprofit organizations access to institutional investment strategies and management normally available only to large investors. The foundation employs multiple professional investment managers with experience in specialized sectors of the investment markets.
The Patten Lumbermen’s Museum, through the dedicated works of founders Lore Rogers and Caleb Scribner, incorporated the museum as a 501C non-profit in 1963. In 2013, the Museum will celebrate the 50 year anniversary of preserving Maine Logging History. For more information, call 207-528-2650 or visit www.lumbermensmuseum.org
