Caribou Middle School January Students of the Month

CARIBOU, Maine — The sixth-grade teachers, Mr. Pelletier, Mrs. Bouchard, Ms. Lajoie and Mrs. Heidron, have chosen Joseph Cyr as one of the January Students of the Month. According to his teachers, Cyr is a kind and

dependable student who strives for success in all of his academic endeavors. He is prepared and organized daily and is a role model for his peers. They describe Cyr as willing to take the time to assist other students during class time and his behavior is exemplary.

    Also chosen as a January sixth-grade Student of the Month is Sydney Thompson. Thompson’s teachers say she is very involved in school activities at CMS. Thompson represents her homeroom on Student Organization. She is in the band and jazz band. Thompson ran cross-country this past fall on the school team, as well as playing rec soccer through the years. Thompson played on the sixth- and seventh-grade girls’ basketball team as well as AYBL basketball. She also plays softball and Little League during the spring and summer months. Currently she is involved with the CMS cross-country ski team.

    Thompson also excels academically in her classes and is part of the Gifted and Talented program. She can often be found helping out other students when possible and is kind and very thoughtful of others’ feelings.

    The grade-seven teachers from CMS have chosen Bridget St. Pierre as one of their January Students of the Month. St. Pierre came to CMS from Connor and has adjusted nicely to middle school life, according to her teachers. She is a very good student who takes pride in her work.

St. Pierre was recently accepted into the Gifted and Talented program and is busy participating in those activities. She is extremely helpful and is always willing to run an errand to help other students. St. Pierre’s teachers advise she can be seen in the classroom working as a peer tutor or group leader, participating in class discussions and going above and beyond on her assignments.

    The seventh-grade teachers from CMS have selected Searra Herbert as a Student of the Month for January. Herbert’s teachers describe her as a hard worker who does well to balance her academics with her extracurricular activities. She is a wonderful student who always has a smile on her face as she consistently looks for the best in situations and others. Herbert is a role model for all and treats her classmates and teachers with the utmost respect and kindness. A member of CMS’s soccer team, Herbert is also a standout on the girls’ seventh-grade basketball team. She also plays for Caribou’s seventh- and eighth-grade AYBL team.

    The grade-eight team has chosen Heather LaMothe as a Student of the Month for January. LaMothe was chosen because of her willingness to help others and her ability to set an example for all who attend CMS. LaMothe has been involved in soccer, cheerleading and gymnastics at The Maine Dance Academy. Her teachers say she is always willing to help a fellow classmate or teacher often without being asked. She is a wonderful role model to all students and sets a great example regarding schoolwork and the treatment of fellow classmates, schoolmates, teachers and adults.

    The eighth-grade teachers have selected Casey McCrossin as their Student of the Month for January. McCrossin’s teachers describe him as a very pleasant student. He is a wonderful helper and is always respectful. McCrossin is a student who is conscientious of his academic performance and works hard to maintain his grades. McCrossin is also a wonderful violinist and is committed to practicing and improving his performance. Outside of his school day, McCrossin enjoys the outdoors and winter activities and is a good friend to his peers.
