During the opening ceremony of the state conference, students participate in a spirit competition. This year they chose to support the fight against breast cancer in support of students that have family members affected by the disease. The front of the shirts read “PIRCTC supports the fight” and the back reads “Presque Isle SkillsUSA, We Wear Pink For Hope, Courage, Strength, Cure.” Nine of the gold medalists have opted to go to Kansas City in June to compete at the SkillsUSA National Conference.

“Nine of our students received a bronze or silver medal and 15 received a gold medal; that’s the most that we have ever gotten in gold,” said Amy White, business technology instructor at PIRCTC. “All of the students worked extremely hard and dedicated numerous hours preparing for this annual trip.
“This summer, nine students will be going to the SkillsUSA National Conference to compete there and hopefully receive another medal,” she said.
